The Faizal and Shabana Foundation celebrates it’s 10-year anniversary, marking a decade of helping the lesser privileged in many arenas of society. The Faizal and Shabana Foundation was established in 2007, as a part of KEF holdings. It is a result of the philanthropic vision of Mr. Faizal Kottikollon and Mrs. Shabana Kottikolon. The Foundation has successfully done 25 programs and projects worth 20 million USD (127 Crores)., in India and the Middle East, which has impacted thousands of lives.
Driven by the vision of – Giving to Create Impact, the Faizal & Shabana Foundation has worked in six critical areas of development: Education and Youth Development, Healthcare and Wellness Support, Regenerative Sustainable Development, Humanitarian Aid and Assistance; Community Outreach and Support; and Art and Culture Development. Under this the foundation has covered programmes such as PRISM (Promoting Regional Schools to International Standards through Multiple Interventions) in collaboration with the Government of Kerala; Krishnagiri School Intervention (Krishnagiri Village Development Program) Research Support Program for Manipal University. The foundation also supports key research organizations for their research projects on AIDS & Cancer. It has also adopted a whole panchayat covering over 1,500 families in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu and introduced a village intervention model to create sustainable development.
Commenting on this milestone anniversary, Mrs. Shabana Faizal, Co-Founder of The Faizal and Shabana Foundation and Vice Chairperson of KEF Holdings said, “The programs at The Faizal Shabana Foundation are designed to create value for the people in our local and rural communities by improving their quality of life and empowering them for better opportunities. All our programs are designed with two main factors in mind – firstly it must be sustainable, we want to give people tools that they can build on and that is why we focus on education, skill development, and research these are all catalyst that can create real impact. Secondly, it should be a model that is scalable and can become a case-study that can be tailored and implemented anywhere in the world.”
The Foundation’s model on public education and village development is gaining wide acceptability, as partners and government bodies see the impact it brings.
The education model started in Kerala and now implemented across hundreds of government and aided schools in Kerala is gathering interest in other states with one school opened in Tamil Nadu and another initiated in Karnataka. The Foundation is planning to expand its sustainable village development program across other states.

This in turn breaks the barrier and opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Our international online exchange program for government school teachers and students or introducing integrated organic and cattle rearing techniques is an attempt to bring the best of opportunities to the community, helping them build better lives for themselves and their families.”
As the Foundation enters a new decade it remains committed to its efforts, spearheaded by Faizal and Shabana’s passion to make a lasting impact, the entrepreneurial couple have marked 10% of their yearly business profits from their flagship company KEF Holdings to support the foundation’s initiatives. The next phase will see them collaborating with like-minded partners both through fundraising and knowledge partnerships to further grow the Foundation’s impact.
